Bio
I’m a passionate Postpartum and Newborn Care Doula residing in Bay Area California and native of Kenya.I grew up in a coffee farm with seven siblings on the slopes of Mt.Kenya.Coffee farming is labor intensive and majority of our village mothers helped us pick the red berries .My Mother designated babysitting duties to me and making endless fermented millet porridge for the mothers. I had the opportunity of observing healthy mothers nursing their babies singing joyously. Hence,It was disheartening on a Safari 2014 to Northern Kenya with my son observe extreme poverty ,lack maternal healthcare in East Pokot -with todate has highest mortality. This led to creation of Doula Outreach Africa a non-profit 501(c3)registered in Palo Alto California my second home.
It takes a Village-us to bring maternal healthcare to these young women age 10 to 17 years old. Volunteers needed, Midwives,Doulas,Nurses,Doctors,Teachers and more with various skills including sustainability vision for the Pokot Women maternal heath.
On my free time ,hiking ,road cycling, photography and mountain climbing here in the Bay Area and in Kenya is always refreshing. Let’s go! purpose driven journeys across Kenya to change lives in East Pokot with perhaps opportunity for a Safari to Maasai Mara ,Climb Mt.Kenya and sun in Lamu Island.
